Vinyl Update #7
over 3 years ago – Wed, Oct 14, 2020 at 12:00:44 AM

Hi All,

It's been about a month and a half since my last update, and in that time both Furnace Records and the Bakery have been working closely with me to resolve the bumps that keep popping up in our test presses.  After a week or so of two quality control teams going over these presses with a fine-toothed comb we found the issue in the metal mothers that were sent to RTI to make the stampers.

Luckily we were able to correct the issues with RTI and didn't have to re-cut the mothers (which would have added a considerable amount of time to production). We had a new set of plates made, and after getting the stamp of approval from RTI's quality control team, they were sent to the Bakery for inspection.  The Bakery spent a week with the plates running their own tests to make sure that the issues have been resolved and have given everything the green light on their end.  From there the plates were shipped back to RTI in order to create new stampers to send to Furnace.

After all of that, here we are.  I was just informed this afternoon that the new stampers have been created and shipped to Furnace. Once they arrive Furnace will produce a new batch test press and send them to me for approval.  If approved, we move to production, and then finally to distribution.

I know it's been a long road for this project, I want to thank you all again for your understanding and sticking this through to the end with me.  There's still a little ways to go, but I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel!

I'll keep you all posted as things progress, but in the meantime feel free to comment or send me any questions.

Best,

John

Vinyl Update #5 (New Presses)
over 3 years ago – Fri, Aug 14, 2020 at 11:57:32 AM

Hi All,

I know several of you have been anxious for an update, I apologize for the delay!  I wanted to speak with my project manager at the pressing plant before I posted anything.

As I mentioned in my last update, there were a few things we wanted to address with the first set of test presses before we moved into final production.  While the issues were small, it turned out that the only way to address them was to order a new set of stampers from RTI.  Those were created and shipped to the plant, and I just confirmed today that new test presses are going through quality control and are slated to ship out to me sometime this week.

Fingers crossed that these new test presses pass with flying colors!  If so, we can move into the final stages of production and hopefully get this out to all of you soon.

Feel free to comment or DM me with any questions.

Best,

John Paul Hayward
